The ETUDE Project: A Journey of Innovation and Collaboration Comes to an End

As the ETUDE network project draws to a close, we reflect on the remarkable journey and the significant milestones we have achieved together. Funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program, ETUDE has been dedicated to training the next generation of researchers in Functional Disorders (FD). Over the past few years, our network has made substantial contributions to the field, fostering collaboration and innovation across Europe.

Key Achievements

  1. Research and Publications: Our researchers have published numerous high-impact papers, advancing our understanding of the mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment of Functional Disorders. These publications have not only enriched the scientific community but also paved the way for improved patient care.
  2. Training and Development: ETUDE has provided comprehensive training to 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs), equipping them with the skills and knowledge to excel in their careers. Through workshops, summer schools, and secondments, our ESRs have gained invaluable experience and built a strong professional network.
  3. Collaborative Efforts: The project has strengthened collaborations among leading institutions and experts in the field. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, ETUDE has fostered a multidisciplinary approach to tackling the challenges of Functional Disorders.
  4. Public Engagement: We have actively engaged with the public through various outreach activities, including podcasts, webinars, and public lectures. These efforts have helped raise awareness about Functional Disorders and the importance of research in this area.

Celebrating Our PhD Graduates

We are proud to announce that several of our ESRs have successfully defended their PhD theses. Congratulations to Tara PetzkeLina Münker, and Hõbe Treufeldt on their outstanding achievements. Their hard work and dedication have significantly contributed to the success of the ETUDE project.

  • Tara Petzke focused on the cognitive and emotional factors related to symptom perception in Functional Disorders.
  • Lina Münker explored developmental transdiagnostic mechanisms underlying Functional Somatic Symptoms.
  • Hõbe Treufeldt has also successfully defended her thesis, contributing valuable insights to our understanding of Stigma and how to minimize it for patients suffering from Functional Disorders.

Additionally, several other ESRs have set dates for their thesis defenses, and we look forward to celebrating their accomplishments in the near future.

As we conclude this chapter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, researchers, and supporters who have made the ETUDE project a resounding success. Together, we have laid a strong foundation for future research and innovation in the field of Functional Disorders.
